Various ways you can finish a needlepoint canvas

They call them finishing; I call them beginnings… pining for their forever homes.

Wait a minute.

This is Needlepoint Land, not Hallmark!

Enjoy the views.

Ah, Alba

Just got this little piece of Scotland in from the finisher. Marianne is a stitcher extraordinaire and did another fabulous job with this ornament. If you look closely, you’ll see Nessie lurking below the links!

You only finish once?

Unlike life, in needlepoint there are do-overs.

Sometimes twice is the ticket  to get a job done just right.  As a result, it does happen that I get asked to refinish a canvas that has already been finished.

No problem.

For example, Cole’s grandmother needlepointed this charming Snow Dude stocking. As you can see from the closeups in the gallery above, it is beautifully stitched.

However, my customer wasn’t entirely thrilled with the finishing that someone else (from “up North” as we say in Fla) had done for it.

So she asked me to give it a makeover.

I had my finisher add a welt around the sides and top, re-line it, and give it a more substantial hanger.

Much, much better!

Good Golly, Miss Molly!

I can’t wait to see the pics of Miss Molly modeling her new collar. Molly is a French Bulldog and Boston Terrier mix. She is two-years-old and lives in Manhattan. I am very partial to both breeds–love the big ears on the Frenchies… ooh-la-la!

9aI adore this stylish collar!

Notice that it has the nifty KWIK buckle.

I just know that Molly will be the envy of all the pooches  in Central Park.  After all,  it’s only the top dogs that get to wear needlepoint collars!

Latest finishings

My customers are so talented!!!

Here are  some of their latest finishings…

The “Keep Calm… and Now Panic” gift box stand is a hoot. A two-sided piece has two stitched versions of the famous saying, and it even has little red feet!

And I just love the ladybug embellishment on the bow!

A nice braid on the college crest really makes this pillow extra special.

The crocheted braid looks lovely with the little red heart, two special little touches that make it unique.

Then there’s the voodoo with a long twist to attach on a golf bag!

To finish off this gorgeous display, here are two hanging signs. One pineapple…

And one beachy peachy.

Pretty in pink

Here are some shots of a lovely finished piece that came in last week.

This angel shelf sitter was put together by someone who loves her craft and never misses a deadline.

I really appreciate that sort of professionalism.

Plus, she doesn’t do “cookie cutter” finishing.  This talented finisher selects great fabrics, ribbons and little embellishments that make each project even more special.

I love the colors that were chosen here, and I think they beautifully complement this excellent needlepoint work.  Isn’t the angel a cutie!

Great stitching job.
