The Embroider-Ma-Tron

Though not needlepoint stitching, here’s an interesting embroidery animation.

If you want to read more about it, go to Nina Paley’s fantastic series on the subject here.

It gets pretty elaborate but is rather impressive!!!

Some final needlepoint pieces from Christmas 2013.

Excellent stitching and finishing, I would say.

I just know they will be much appreciated by those who will be getting them after Santa makes his rounds.

Well, that’s it!

Merry Christmas from Needlepoint Land–wishing you all a great canvas to stitch, some colorful threads, sparkly embellishments, a helpful magnifier, sharp scissors and a trusty needle.

Pretty in pink

Here are some shots of a lovely finished piece that came in last week.

This angel shelf sitter was put together by someone who loves her craft and never misses a deadline.

I really appreciate that sort of professionalism.

Plus, she doesn’t do “cookie cutter” finishing.  This talented finisher selects great fabrics, ribbons and little embellishments that make each project even more special.

I love the colors that were chosen here, and I think they beautifully complement this excellent needlepoint work.  Isn’t the angel a cutie!

Great stitching job.

Patrick’s Stocking

needlepointland stocking finishing

Maria’s Awesome Xmas Stocking

Here’s another wonderful stocking stitched by my friend Maria for a very special and lucky little boy.

I had it finished by a real pro, who managed to turn it around for me in record time!

Thanks to my finisher, this lovely stocking made it to young Patrick in time for his very first Christmas.

It’s a Melissa Shirley design.

Maria favors this artist for Christmas stockings, having stitched about 15 or so over the years for relatives and friends.

The piece is backed with navy velvet and lined in a very elegant green moire.

Lots of glitter in this one. The silver moon is well, silver, against the shimmering navy background sky.

Maria uses lots of silk and silk/wool combination threads and that is what you see throughout the stocking.

Santa’s sack is Petite Very Velvet and the bells are stitched in brassy gold Kreinik metallics.  His coat trim is Fancy Fur by Rainbow Gallery.

Finally, notice the way Maria made use of different threads and textures to create the illusion of depth and dimension.  Absolutely superb!

By the way, I was looking at the American Needlepoint Guild (ANG) magazine Needlepointers last night.

It showed pics of finished needlepoint in the Awards Gallery that’s refereed by a panel of judges at their national seminar.

Maria should really consider submitting some of her finished pieces there.

She’s got my vote!
